Video Converter

Converts videos between formats. MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, WebM and more. You also choose the quality level.

What it does

Use this to modernise old-format videos, turn MKVs into MP4, make WebM WhatsApp-friendly, or convert GIFs into video.

How to use

  1. Drag video files into the list.
  2. Pick a Target Container (MP4 recommended).
  3. Pick a Video Codec and Audio Codec (leave Auto to let the system decide).
  4. Set the Encoding Quality (CRF).
  5. Click Run.

You get one converted copy per video.

Supported formats

Input: MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, WMV, FLV, WebM, GIF, OGV, M3U8, TS, 3GP.

Output: Same list, plus audio-only output (MP3, WAV).

Target format options

  • MP4 (H.264): Most universal. Plays everywhere. Recommended.
  • MKV: Multi-channel audio, flexible. Pro use.
  • MOV: Apple devices.
  • WebM: Modern web standard.
  • AVI: Legacy systems.
  • GIF: Short animations.

Codecs

Leave Auto and the system picks the best codec for your container. For manual:

  • H.264: The most universal video codec.
  • H.265 (HEVC): More efficient, smaller, modern devices.
  • VP9 / AV1: Modern WebM codecs.

Quality (CRF 18-35)

  • 18-22: Visually near-lossless, big file.
  • 23 (default): Standard quality, balanced size.
  • 24-28: Good quality, smaller files.
  • 29-35: Heavier compression, quality drops.

Examples

Old WMVs into MP4: Add the WMVs, Target MP4, Auto codec, CRF 23, run.

MKVs into WhatsApp-friendly MP4: Add the MKVs, MP4, H.264, CRF 28, run. Small and compatible.

GIF into a video: Add the GIF, Target MP4, run. Now you can post it as a video on socials.

WebM into iPhone-friendly MP4: Add the WebM, MP4, H.264, run. Plays on iPhone/iPad.

Watch out

  • This tool does not change resolution or FPS, the source values are preserved. To lower resolution use Video Compressor or Video Resizer.
  • H.265 plays well on new devices, older ones may not.
  • A CRF lower than the source quality does not improve it, just inflates the file.
  • Some codec/container combinations are not supported (e.g. MP4 + VP9).
  • Hardware acceleration (GPU) is auto-picked, there is no manual control.

License

Free tier has a monthly conversion cap. Office plan removes it.
