Audio Denoiser
Removes background noise from audio files. Targets steady noises like AC hum, fan whir, tape hiss and static.
What it does
Use this to reduce air-conditioner noise on meeting recordings, clean traffic rumble out of interviews, or get rid of the static on tape transfers.
How to use
- Drag audio files into the list.
- Adjust the Reduction Strength slider (default 75%).
- Leave Optimized for Stationary Noise and Auto-Sense on.
- Click Run.
You get one cleaned-up copy per file.
Settings
- Reduction Strength (0-100%): Low means gentle cleanup (stays close to the original), high is aggressive. 75% is balanced, 90%+ is heavy-handed.
- Optimized for Stationary Noise: When on, targets steady sounds like AC and fan. Leave on for speech.
- Auto-Sense Noise Floor: Picks a noise sample from a quiet section. If off, applies a generic cleanup to the whole file.
Examples
Meeting recording with AC noise: Add the file, Strength 75%, defaults, run. Speech becomes clearer.
Old tape with static: Add the tape transfer, Strength 85%, run. Static drops sharply.
Interview with traffic rumble: Add the interview, Strength 70%, run. Speech is preserved, noise drops.
Studio recording with slight hum: Add the file, Strength 50%, run. Gentle cleanup, no quality loss.
Watch out
- This works well on steady, ongoing noise. Sudden noises (a door slam, a cough) are not really what it targets.
- It does not remove echo. You need a different tool for that.
- Very high strength makes the voice unnatural and robotic.
- On music it strips detail, do not use it on music.
- In Auto-Sense mode, files without any quiet section produce inconsistent results.
