Video Resizer
Reframes landscape video to vertical for TikTok/Reels, to square, or to other aspect ratios. Built for social-media format conversion.
What it does
Use this to repurpose a YouTube video for TikTok by going vertical, fit a widescreen film into an Instagram square, or modernise old 4:3 footage to 16:9.
How to use
- Drag video files into the list.
- Pick a Target Aspect Ratio (9:16 for TikTok, 1:1 for Instagram square, etc).
- Pick a Fit Strategy: Crop, Pad or Stretch.
- Set the Max Resolution (1080p recommended).
- Pick an Output Format.
- Click Run.
You get one reframed copy per video.
Target ratios
| Ratio | Typical use |
|---|---|
| 9:16 | TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts. |
| 16:9 | YouTube, Vimeo, TV. |
| 1:1 | Instagram feed, square posts. |
| 4:5 | Instagram feed (vertical), Pinterest. |
| 21:9 | Cinematic, banner. |
Fit strategies
- Crop to Fit: Cuts the edges. Good when the important content is centred.
- Pad / Letterbox: Adds black bars around the video, nothing is lost. Classic letterbox for YouTube.
- Stretch: Forces the video into the new ratio, image distorts. Not recommended.
Resolution
- 1080p: High quality, ideal for most platforms.
- 720p: Standard, faster upload.
- 480p: Low quality, small files.
- Original: Keeps the resolution, only changes the ratio.
Examples
YouTube video repurposed for TikTok: Add the video, 9:16, Crop, 1080p, MP4, run. Comes out vertical.
Widescreen film to Instagram square: Add the film, 1:1, Pad (with black bars), 1080p, run.
Modernise old 4:3 videos: Add the videos, 16:9, Pad, run.
Cinematic banner: Add the video, 21:9, Crop, run.
Watch out
- Crop may cut off content at the edges (text, faces).
- Stretch distorts faces and objects, avoid it unless you must.
- You cannot type a custom width/height, only the preset ratios.
- Max Resolution above the source does not upscale.
- The same settings apply to every video.
